On Wednesday Nanci Pelosi gave a record breaking 8 hour and 7 minute speech demanding an immigration vote and protesting a budget deal reached by senate leaders. Although this is not considered a filibuster because only in the senate can someone filibuster. This was the longest continuous speech in the House since 1909. Pelosi's speech does not even come close Ted Cruz's 21 hour and 18 minute filibuster in 2013 in opposition of a bill to end the government shutdown in 2013 in an effort to defund ObamaCare.
Pelosi gave story after story about different immigrant stories of success, she even gave a speech about her grandson and how he wanted to look just like his friend Antonio who is from Guatemala.
House Majority leader Kevin McCarthy R-Calif. joked that "her speech would make her wikipedia page and that this was her biggest accomplishment this year."
Clearly Republican leaders did not think much of Pelosi's stunt in the House.
